About New Forests
New Forests manages over $1 billion in private equity-style commingled funds and separate accounts for timberland and associated environmental markets, such as carbon, water and biodiversity. The company executes three investment strategies that provide clients with diversity and choice around risk-adjusted returns, geography and market exposure:
- Sustainable timberland investment in Australia and New Zealand. With relatively low risk, stable assets and well-established markets and management systems, New Forests creates value in its Australia New Zealand Forest Fund by understanding the regional markets and providing upside exposure to emerging carbon and water markets.
- Growing economies of the Asia Pacific region. Supply-demand imbalances for timber in Asia are acute, and higher risk-adjusted returns can be expected. New Forests executes its strategies in the region, including in its Tropical Asia Forest Fund, by applying international timberland investment discipline to this emerging high-growth market.
- Direct investment in US environmental markets. New Forests manages Forest Carbon Partners, L.P. and co-manages the Eco Products Fund, investing in forest carbon and mitigation/conservation banking markets in the United States. New Forests creates value in these emerging asset classes via extensive intellectual property, policy expertise and local knowledge.
New Forests manages the full value chain of investment services, from fund management and portfolio strategy to operational oversight of forest and eco product assets. Staff expertise includes general business and finance, timberland investment, operational forestry, eco product development, environmental policy and socially responsible investing, providing a unique combination of skills supporting our investment strategies. This skill set is leveraged by New Forests' relationships with landowners, governments, non-governmental organizations and researchers in the countries where we operate.
New Forests is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, with staff members in New Zealand, San Francisco and Singapore. The company holds an Australian Financial Services Licence and is a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment.
